With ministers promising to restore equality safeguards, People Management asked legal experts to explain the ramifications of this commitment and what employers will need to consider.
In response to the renewed commitment to EU-derived equal pay protections in the UK, Gemma Bullivant, Executive coach and HR consultant, voiced her support for this shift in approach as a step in the right direction.
However, she also emphasised the need for comprehensive solutions beyond equal pay legislation to achieve pay equality in companies.
She said: “Sadly, the full solution requires a wider change in behaviours, working practices, better pay and reward systems, and reporting in every company, and this change will not bring an automatic solution”.
